He continues to bless subwoofers with his latest set of songs
Sully just dropped four relentlessly booming tracks on Liquid Stranger's Wakaan imprint. His latest EP, Malfunction, blends dubstep, trap, experimental bass and even house music.
Detroit native Sully rose into the scene in 2019 with his first track, a solo release titled Frequency Shift. Fast forward about eight months and to some of his first major releases on Wakaan Records.
One of his early releases was the Break The Floor EP, which was followed up by his collab with fellow Wakaan artist G-Rex in a track titled Clique.
Sully was all over fests in 2019 and later on had his first major tour opportunity as support on Champagne Drip & Luzcid’s Double Vision Tour. Since then, he has been blessing our subwoofers with popular tracks such as Duck Hummus and recently released Right About Now with Isaac Castor.
Sully is sitting on unreleased collabs with Peekaboo, Dirt Monkey, TVBOO and a collab EP with G-rex. The rest of this year is guaranteed to be a busy one and the true breakout year for Sully.
Chris talked with Dubstep FBI about what Malfunction means to him, the artwork for the EP and his July 9 EP release party in Columbus, OH.
“This EP is a culmination of 4 of my favorite tracks that I made during quarantine,” he said. “Each one is VERY different from the others, hence the title malfunction.”
He also hinted at the reason for the name Sully and what it means limitations wise.
“The reason why I chose the brand 'Sully' is because it’s literally my name and I didn’t want any limitations on what I could put out.”
He believes the EP artwork accurately portrays the beauty in dysfunction, and spoke highly of the artist who designed the cover: iamcadaver. "He is extremely talented and quick with the process," Sully said.
He will also be hosting an official Malfunction EP release party on July 9 at Skullys Music Diner in Columbus. It will be Sully's first time playing in that city, and he said it's going to be a celebration of his life in general.
“I have a very special rollercoaster of a set planned that will showcase my past releases, unreleased music, obviously the EP, and my friends’ music as well.”
He also hinted that he might even bring out a special guest or two for this one. So if you are in the Columbus Ohio area, you do not want to miss what is sure to be a unique show.
The FBI team is bumping the four tracks off the EP, and looking forward to all of his other unreleased goodies this festival season and beyond.
