Now, we've obtained evidence of a bass music bludgeoning. A tune so sick that it's going to need something stronger than antibiotics to stop it.
Patient zero? TRAWMA.
The man is about to release his debut single on the fabled Bassweight Records, and it's so heavy that we might need a medical specialist to intervene.
The TRAWMA brand is actually centered around Emergency Medical Services (EMS), and he does a great job of intertwining that tone thoughout Bariatric Bass.
Not only just in the title of the tune, as "bariatric" represents the medical intervention around obesity, but also in the song's framework that features first responder-themed samples.
"The goal with this track was to translate the intensity and urgency of emergency medical situations into music," TRAWMA said. "Bariatric Bass specifically incorporates sound samples from ambulances and powered ambulance stretchers."
As we stream this tune in our ears, we feel as though a high-stakes medical intervention is happening among us. It's a weighty, deep tune that has been supported by heavyweight dubstep artists like Versa and YDG live.
Versa even commented on the Bassweight announcement of Bariatric Bass, saying "one of my fav trawma plates." Versa has been a supporter of TRAWMA for years, and he played Bariatric Bass live at his sold-out Hostile headline in LA earlier this year.
"TRAWMA was one of the first people who reached out to me whe my music started getting played out in 2019," Versa said. "He sent me some really sick WIPs with insanely heavy sounds that I knew would pair well with the type of music I wanted to make."
The two artists also have an insane collab called Crush Injury that dropped on Malignant in 2023. Now, the heavy sounds of TRAWMA are shining independently with this new tune on Bassweight.
"Releasing on Bassweight Records is a significant milestone for me. Bassweight has been a label that I have always had my eyes on since first discovering them," TRAWMA said. "I am stoked to be contributing to the label’s catalog."
