Our investigation heads south of the border, pinpointing the riddim scene at Mexico City's La Choperia Izazaga.
The Mexican rave crowd knows how to party.
They show up early, they come in hoards, and they bring their best energy — All of this is especially true when there's a function down in Mexico City.
Now, riddim rats south of the border can get their fix with Blankface and Subfiltronik's co-headline on Saturday, November 30. The show, taking place at Mexico City's Izazaga nightclub, will create an intimate experience for the event to take place.
Support will be provided from deck-masters Joust and Stayns, with a talented undercard featuring Astrominate, Autonik, Vanzy, Harbinger and Zominovs. Some of our American friends, Riddim NYC and Mo Money, will even be present showcasing their latest tricks.
The event is being thrown by Dubhole Club, with promotions from Bass Department, BounceBeat, Dubstep FBI, MoMoney and Riddim NYC. We've been working with these groups for over a year now and have been impressed by their sheer ability to build hype among the bass music community.
The main promoter, Astrominate with DubHole Club, did his research before enlisting Blankface and Subfiltronik to make the trek down south.
"It was an extensive search for artists, just as I was looking for artists who had not visited Mexico yet, artists relevant to the moment inside and outside Mexico," Astrominate said. "We also did some surveys about the most anticipated artists in Mexico. "
One of his main goals through this even is to grow the community of riddim fans down in CDMX, and to give them a space to enjoy the music without breaking the bank.
"I saw the lack of events in CDMX, I want to be able to bring more of the riddim to Mexico, for the culture to grow and to be able to offer more events at an affordable price for the community," Astrominate said. "For a long time, it has been a goal to be able to bring quality events, we need to grow the scene."
As we saw in February, Mexico City is a buzzing hotbed for bass music. Not only did EDC Mexico prove that there are heavy festival crowds, but we investigated up smaller, more underground clubs that proved those vibes as well.
It's safe to say that this stacked lineup of riddim talent, with Blankface and Subfiltronik at the head, will not disappoint. And for Mexicans who are looking to satiate their unquenchable taste for plates, this is their place.
