Several artists chime in after the alleged lineup for a Florida riddim show was leaked this weekend on Reddit.
Just when you think EDM Twitter has settled down, there's always something new.
This was exactly the case on Friday afternoon, when anonymous riddim artist, PYKE, stormed Twitter, accusing fans of leaking an upcoming Halloween show lineup.
"Aight which one of yall leaked this?" he Tweeted, above a screenshot from Reddit featuring a "Vandal Squad vs. Grocery Boiz" Florida Halloween show flyer.
PYKE instantly accused Grocery Boiz of leaking the lineup, uncorking a now-growing beef that's been bubbling for nearly 72 hours at the time of publishing.
The screenshot shows an original post by Reddit user, sliggz, whose real identity is unknown. The post had only been up for four hours before PYKE brought it to Twitter.
The lineup in question features five "versus" or "back-to-back" sets from nationally acclaimed riddim artists, happening on the date of Saturday, Oct. 26.
VANDAL SQUAD VERSUS GROCERY BOIZ LINEUP
PYKE vs. SweetTooth
Spass vs. DumDum
Jiqui vs. Hukae
Vexus vs. Sora
NRVE vs. Ophion
The lineup itself is for a show taking place at Coastal Creative in St. Petersburg, Florida, and is being thrown by promoters No Sleep Presents, Swamp Sessions and Fam Sessions.
While PYKE accused the Grocery Boiz of commissioning this leak; members of that collective immediately zoned in,accusing fellow dubstep artist, Iman, of being the leaker.
Headliner SweetTooth even went as far as to tell PYKE that he should only be concerned about "paint leaks" all over his custom jacket.
Both artists dragged the laid-back, family-run restaurant, Flanigans, into the argument.
"Dear SweetTooth, I'm sorry u feel this way but are u really that pressed or is this because of what happened @FlannigansFL," PYKE Tweeted.
The identity of the individual who did this is unclear, but this instance has reignited a larger conversation surrounding the state of leaked information in EDM. Raising the questions, who is to blame when these things happen? Is it the fan who leaks, or the promoter who trusts too many?
As this whirlwhind conversation shook the dubstep community, trusty news outlet, DMZ NEWS OFFICIAL, elaborated on the beef via an instagram post.
Leaked flyers, and even plates, are a prominent issue within the dubstep scene. Die-hard fans will remember when EDM Twitter was sent into an uprorar last November over VKTM's for-sale plates that were leaked by someone who decided to ruin the fun for everyone.
"Who needs money that badly that they have to sell someone’s else’s work," said Twitter user @kadimp9. "It’s actually so sad and disrespectful cause we all know riddim djs bust [their] ass for such little return..."
Many say that the same concept goes for leaking flyers and lineups. If it's not yours — don't post it.
Easy, right? Wrong.
As the leaker's identity remains unknown, it's clear that this practice has become too common in dubstep. We've seen promoters complain about it before, and we've even noticed leaked lineups differ entirely from the lineups that get posted later on.
If you or anyone you know has information about this leaker's whereabouts, please contact the FBI via Instagram DM.
