This track serves as a preview of the duo's collab EP, which is set to release later in the fall.
Hazy vocals paired with a cinematic and daunting drop -- that's the new Sully x G-Rex that just blessed our ears. From commanding frequencies to legendary basslines, Back It Up serves as a daunting preview of what is to come for their full EP.
Detroit native, Jake Sweeney (G-Rex) is one of the household favorites of Wakaan Records. He got his big break in 2018 with a good friend and fellow bass phenom, Peekaboo. Since then, he has dropped two EPs on Wakaan and started a mix series titled The Summoning.
In 2021 alone, G-Rex dropped the third installment of his The Summoning mix series and also released on Dion Timmer's Arcane EP on Subsidia Records. We can’t wait to see what he has for us for the rest of the year with touring, as well as new music.
Sully, on the other hand, has been making waves with Wakaan since 2019 and this year especially. Having collabs with the likes of Peekaboo, Dirt Monkey and Tvboo, alongside four shows with Champagne Drip, the rest of the year is going to be a busy one for him.
Overall, the debut track off Sully and G-Rex's upcoming EP on Wakaan solidifies their place in the experimental bass music scene. Back It Up its a head nodder, and has us abducted into a state of eastern-influenced sound.
We are excited to hear the rest of this EP and what these two have planned for the rest of the year. Be sure to check G-Rex and Sully out on the road for the rest of the year.
