When we hear this song, we know what we gon' do...
THIS IS NOT A DRILL.
The long-awaited Open the Pit has made its landing onto Monstercat, and we know what to do when this song comes on.
Crankdat has partnered up with legendary rap icon, Juicy J, to create one of the most well-known mosh pit starters of the year.
Open the Pit has become a crowd favorite, amplifying live energy to another level. After over three years in the making, both artists are thrilled to release this eternal banger.
This powerhouse hitter has opened pits and opened doors to versatility – intersecting both worlds of electronic dance music and hip-hop. Combining the two genres has been a recognizable trend, as many artists have been making efforts in fusing rap elements into electronic music, with dominant lyrical build-ups and instrumental drops.
Open the Pit raises the bar, while bridging both genres to a new standard.
Prior to its release, Crankdat had been testing out Open the Pit throughout his tour, heightening its notability to the crowd. Of course, Juicy J had to make a guest appearance in at least one of the stops, joining Crankdat onstage at the Hollywood Palladium.
For three years in the making, Crankdat and Juicy J went above and beyond, creating a music video for Open the Pit to pair with the release. The animation was heavily influenced by GTA, giving fans an immersive experience through a thrilling heist, parties and a cop chase.
Crankdat showcases his skills in graphic design with original visuals, and through the help of artists Lee Griffin and JasePlanet, along with the ultimate software, Blender.
Open the Pit has already achieved tremendous success, shaping a new era of bass music. Our agents are seeking more of these EDM-rap collaborations in the near future.
“This song has been three years in the making, and getting Juicy J on it was a dream come true," Crankdat said. "Along with the record, we [have also released] a music video that has been a labor of love to plan out and help create, and I can’t wait for everyone to see and hear it."
This year, Crankdat has established worldwide dominance, selling out his Total Termination Tour and his Absolute Annihilation California tour. Crankdat has also been making countless appearances at festivals such as Lost Lands, in addition to notable venues such as Denver's Ogden Theatre, DC's Echostage and more.
Get in formation – Open the Pit is officially out.
