*checks notes* Nope, not a single trap tune on this 3-track, collab release.
Who said trap is dead? asáu & Golden Child just wanna talk.
These two underground stalwarts have combined forces on a three-track EP titled definitely not trap, and our agents can confirm there are zero skips on this one.
The EP gets off to a roaring start with jump inna ride, an infectiously bouncy cut that showcases the trap-leaning styles of both artists. The snappy drums and addicting vocal sample give the track an unmistakable flavor that permeates the rest of the EP.

hardcore continues the frenetic, fast-paced vibe of jump inna ride. Once again, we get a vocal sample here that brings the track's energy over the top. This sample combined with some banging drums and basslines give us an irresistibly fun trap tune that shows the undeniable chemistry between these two producers.
The EP's final offering, mahahaha, slows down in BPM but matches the relentless energy of the other two tracks. According to asáu, finishing this tune was a little more difficult than the other two.
"Golden Child sent me these great stems but I couldn't get it to punch quite as hard as I wanted it to on the first couple tries," asáu said. "I was a little frustrated at one point, but you just have to push through that and reach that quality you hear in your head."

Despite being labeled as a "dead" genre over the past few years, trap music is in good hands with underground artists like these two doing their part to push the genre in an exciting direction.
"I don't think that trap is dead, it's just no one is pushing it," Golden Child said. "I think what we could have is promising for the future of it. If we continue to make stuff like this and revive it, it could be like a second wave."
asáu also offered a very insightful take on the state of the genre, noting how it continues to live on despite not receiving as much mainstream attention as it did in previous years.
"I think it's hard to get a feel for how the masses feel for the genre now because it's sort of gone away from the limelight," asáu said. "But I do think EPs like this can remind people how fucking dope [trap] is, and how much variation and flavor you can bring on every track."
definitely not trap is available now to stream on all platforms.
